RAISING AWARENESS FOR CHILDREN


PROVO, UTAH- The Utah County Child Abuse Prevention Team is inviting families and their children to join with them in raising awareness for Child Abuse Prevention month this April. They are sponsoring three different events throughout the month for families and their children to become involved.
Child Abuse Prevention month begins with Blue Ribbon Week. Giving parents an opportunity to talk with various agencies and children a chance to play games and crafts. Covering two floors of the Provo Towne Center, “Pinwheels for Prevention”, will take place on April 11.
The month continues raising awareness with a 5K Fun Run/Walk and Kids Walk. Saturday, April 25 at 9 a.m. the run/walk will begin at Paul Reams Wilderness Park (1600 West 500 North in Provo. Registration is $15 and $5 for children 12 and under if you register by Monday, April 20. After April 20, the registration fee is $20 and $8 for children 12 and under. There will be t-shirts for all participants and a raffle with many prizes. To obtain registration forms email sknadler@utah.gove or by picking them up at the Provo Police Department.
In addition to two larger events, the UCCAP is asking for nominations to honor individuals or organizations who have made contributions to protecting, advocating for, and helping children where they will be honored at a awards luncheon. Nominations are due Friday, March 6 before 5 p.m.
To become more involved with the Utah County Child Abuse Prevention monthly meetings, are held at 1:30 p.m. on the second Tuesday of each month are open to the public at the Young Card Room 308, Provo City Library (550 North University Avenue in Provo).
